Omniscience

omniscience (definition). Derives from the Latin omni ("all" or "every") and sciens ("to know" or "conscious"). The state of knowing everything. This is an attribute of God.

Scriptures

  • 1 John 3:20 (RSV): whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
  • Matthew 10:29-30: Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s will. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
  • Psalm 139:1-3: O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me! 2 Thou knowest when I sit down and when I rise up; thou discernest my thoughts from afar. 3 Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
  • Psalm 139:4: Even before a word is on my tongue, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
  • 1 Kings 8:39: then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and render to each whose heart thou knowest, according to all his ways (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men);
