John 18:6

John 18:6 reads as follows:

John 18:6 (ESV): When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

This verse is used to claim Christ's divinity when he responded "I am he."

Angelic presence. According to EGW (DA 694.5), it was the presence of the angel ("who had lately ministered to Jesus") who moved between them and Jesus who caused the priests, elders, and soldiers to drop as dead men to the ground. This occurred again with the soldiers at the tomb (see 4LtMs, Ms 80, 1886, par. 5, "When the Roman guards caught sight of the angel, they dropped as dead men to the ground. They could not endure the glory of even one angel of God").
