God in the New Testament
The disciples knew of only one God.
1 Corinthians 8:4-6 Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols,
we know that "an idol has no real existence," and that "there
is no God but one." For although there may be so-called gods
in heaven or on earth-as indeed there are many "gods" and
many "lords"- yet for us there is one God, the Father,
from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus
Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
Did they say "one God, the Son"? No! Did they say "one
God, the Holy Spirit"? No! Did they say "one God, the Trinity"?
No! They said "one God, the Father." Period!
Romans 15:6 that together you may with one voice glorify the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 1:2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy,
and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only
true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
John 20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me,
for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and
say to them, I am ascending to my Father
and your Father, to my God and your God."
KJV:
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven..."
Matthew 5:45
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven
is perfect." Matthew 5:48:
"and I (God) will receive you, And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
