The 7+1 Signs in the Gospel of John

The Gospel of John records eight "signs" (Greek: semeion) by Jesus. They are divided into seven and one. The seven take place during the ministry of Christ, and the last one after His resurrection. The chiastic structure shows the first corresponding with the eighth, the second with the seventh, the third with the sixth, and the fourth with the fifth.

A 2:1-11. THE MARRIAGE IN CANA.
  B 4:46-50. THE RULER'S SON.
    C 5:1-47. THE IMPOTENT MAN.
D 6:1-14. THE FEEDING OF THE FIVE THOUSAND.
D' 6:15-21. THE WALKING ON THE SEA.
C' 9:1-41. THE MAN BORN BLIND.
  B' 11:1-44. THE SISTER'S BROTHER.
A' 21:1-14. THE DRAUGHT OF FISHES.

While the first four deal with what is preliminary and partial, the latter four lead to what is permanent and final.

The above was derived from the The Eight Signs in John's Gospel.
